DID YOU KNOW? Pappi Appacha… are the first lines of a yesteryear hit song, sung by Adoor Bhasi. Mamas makes his debut as a director and Kavya Madhavan makes her return into movies after a break.
STORYLINE: Nirappel Mathai (Innocent) and son Pappi (Dileep) are rich, uneducated and idiotic. The father-son duo has a number of business interests at Ithirikkandam, a sleepy village. The natives find them stupid for sure, but love them as well, as the two are harmless sorts. Pappi is having a soft corner for Annie teacher (Kavya), who is not too fond of him. She, in fact, works in the school owned by Pappi but dares to voice her protests against his wrong doings.
REVIEW: A fabulous first half and a more serious second half is what Pappi Appacha is all about. It would have been great if they had decided to continue with the film in a lighter mood during the second half as well! Still, Pappi Appacha is definitely enjoyable and incredibly funny at most times. Dileep is back with a bang in his true, popular style. His comic timing is impeccable. Kavya looks matured and beautiful. Watch out for a surprise package in Ashokan, who excels in a comic role. Forget logic, just sit and enjoy Pappi Appacha, it is really enjoyable.
HIGHS: Dileep and the comedy
LOWS: The second half is a bit too serious
Verdict: 3.5 out of 5 (GENUINE FUN)
