The original Neelathamara came in 1979. Three decades later, it is all set to come back again. The remake of the film, originally written by M T Vasudevan Nair and directed by Yusuf Ali Kechery, is soon to go on the floors. The new version of the film is to be directed by Lal Jose and produced by Revathy Kalamandir.

The roles played by Ambika, Ravi Kumar and Sathar is now going to be done by Archana, Kalesh and Suresh, all newcomers. Rima Kallingal and Samvrutha Sunil will also be part of the new movie. Director Lal Jose says that the essence of the film will remain but the story will be developed to suit the current era.
