Cast: Mammootty, Kavya Madhavan
DID YOU KNOW? Ee Pattanathil Bhootham has been scripted by the hit duo, Siby K Thomas and Udayakrishnan. Mammootty is doing a double role, a year after Annan Thampi. This also happens to be Kavya’s last film as a heroine, before her marriage. The shooting was done extensively inside the Jumbo circus tent in Kochi and Kottayam. The film, originally meant to be released during the mid summer vacation, took some time to reach the theatres.
RAPID REVIEW: Jimmy (Mammootty), a bike-jumper with a circus group is behind the bars for the murder of the owner, Philipose (Janaradhanan). The owner’s daughter Ancy (Kavya) hates Jimmy for his cruel deed. Now, how will Jimmy, who is actually innocent in the whole episode, be saved? Here comes the Bhootham or a friendly ghost (Mammoootty again), fleeing from a fiery wizard. It’s fun unlimited from then on.
You don’t find a ghost in a squeaky voice, a ‘goatee’ on his chin and with branded shoes in everyday life, do you? It’s a fantasy world and it would be fun to watch the movie with some kids around. Better not to start worrying from when did ghosts started solving murder mysteries in our land and so on. Ee Pattanathil Bhootham is a funny entertainer, which may defy logic, at times. Enjoy the movie!
HIGHS: Nice visuals, pretty good music and a stylish looking Mammootty!
LOWS: A predictable storyline.
Verdict: 3 out of 5 (Time-pass)
