Cast: Jayaram, Padmapriya, Baby Nivedita
DID YOU KNOW? Director Akku, hero Jayaram, scenarist K Gireesh Kumar and music director Shyam Dharman, all had joined hands last year to make the whopping hit, Veruthe Oru Bharya. Now, their next venture Kana Kanmani is an adaptation of Akku and Gireesh’s recent Hindi film, Gauri: The Unborn.
STORYLINE: Roy (Jayaram) and Maya (Padmapriya) is a happily married couple belonging to different castes, with a lovely daughter Anakha (Baby Nivedita). Roy is a successful building designer and the three decide to go on a vacation. Anakha wants to go their old bungalow in a remote hill station and things get scary, once they reach there.
REVIEW: Kana Kanmani narrates a highly genuine theme and it has been handled particularly well by its makers. It makes a statement about the concern that married couples should have while going for an abortion. Is anyone really bothered about killing a kid, while doing an abortion? Kana Kanmani scares at times, yes; but it is more so when messages like these hits your conscience, like a dart!
It is Baby Nivedita, who is the real star of the show, with a matured, fascinating performance. Jayaram, Padmapriya and the rest of the cast does an impressive job as well. Excellent visuals from Vipin Mohan and Shyam Dharman’s excellent music are the other highlights.
HIGHS: It’s a genuine, honest attempt.
LOWS: The second half could’ve been ten minutes less.
Verdict: 4 out of 5 (Must see)
