Genre: Romance/Drama
Release date: 23 January 2010
Director: Siddique
Cast: Dileep, Nayantara
DID YOU KNOW? Hit machine Siddique has been away from Malayalam films for a while and he returns with a bang, Bodyguard. Dileep pairs up with Nayantara for the first time. In fact, she is in Malayalam after a pretty long hiatus. The film took sometime in the making and was originally planned for release in Mar 2009. Bodyguard was in news even before its release, when Tamil superstar Vijay wanted to remake the film into his language, of course, with himself as the hero.
STORYLINE: Jayakrishnan (Dileep) adores goondas and is at Ashokan’s (Thyagarajan) house to become his bodyguard. He is sent to the college along with Ashokan’s daughter, Ammu (Nayantara), as a bodyguard. Ammu finds his presence irritating and starts making prank calls to him, posing as a lover. But things get serious soon.
REVIEW: Bodyguard is a hardcore entertainer. Dileep plays the comic-hero to perfection and Nayantara looks stunning. The story may not have many surprises, but the film has been packaged as an entertaining watch. With nice visuals and some really good songs, things become even more beautiful. Not in the league of his brilliant films in the past, but Siddique has made Bodyguard look chic.
HIGHS: Dileep & Nayantara
LOWS: The comedy could have been better
Verdict: 2.5 out of 5 (ENTERTAINING)
